    PPT Drivers License Question

I recently moved and my DL still has my old address. I have utility bills with my current address. Will there be problems with a PPT?

Only if they it is issued by a government agency to satisfy the Federal POI.

As outlined in ATF Rul. 2001-5, licensees may accept a combination of valid government-issued documents to satisfy the identification document requirements of the Brady Act. The required valid government-issued photo identification document bearing the name, photograph, and date of birth of the transferee may be supplemented by another valid, government-issued document showing the transferee’s residence address.

I think in that case my local shop wants you to get and bring in a 3 years certified CA DMV driver license print out. I guess this proves your residence, I don't know if with their store policy you're screwed if you haven't lived in CA for 3 years but you are a resedent. I would highly doubt there isn't some kind of other legal and exceptable route. I know the DMV doesn't give you a new ID unless you lose yours, not if you move. They give you a change of address card when you move and do an address change.

I have been a CA resident my entire life. I just want to make sure I don't waste the sellers time.

I've been in this situation, I had a PO Box as my address on my DL. I used a pink slip and a utility bill with my name on it to prove my residency.

            Go overkill.

Some shops will accept the the "change of address" printout from the DMV which you can do online and print out in less than 15 minutes. If you are not sure how to do this, PM me and I'll walk you through the proccess.

Also, bring any and all utility bills (gas, electric, and water ) from the last 2 months with your new phisical address- bring the DMV registration from your car if it has your new phisical address- and bring a fishing/hunting license with your new phisical address.

Call the shop doing the PPT and ask what THEY need to facilitate the transfer. Not all shops are the same. If it's a handgun transfer, don't forget your Handgun Saftey Card.

Still check with the dealer since they may not accept an online change of address. Our DOJ rep told us that we can not accept those printouts. Only from the DMV office.

Was that the CA DOJ auditor or the ATF rep? Seems it should work fine for the Federal POI alternate documentation requirement whereas a utility bill, etc. would work for CA POR requirement.

Had same issue at Bass Pro. They needed a DMV print out. It was 5 bucks. I had a PO Box for do and regulations documents. Was easy to get printout and made copies..
