hello, i will be getting a replacement long gun that was ordered online and was wondering which fees will need to be payed when it gets to CA. since its considered a new firearm will i only have to pay the transfer fee and dros? i wont need to pay sales tax correct? thanks in advance.

We're just dealing with the same situation about a receiver. The seller provided us with an invoice stating that this is a replacement item and sales tax was collected in the original purchase. We'll keep this for our records and should be ok. Have them include something similar and you should be ok.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

As long as you can show it was a replacement firearm, sales tax would not apply.
The fees would be the DROS fee and whatever the FFL charges, which is not limited, so it would be what the FFL normally charges for transfers. You should check with the FFL to make sure that they understand the issue with sales tax.Kemasa.

Just got our invoice in about 30 min ago and says "replacing defective item with serial XXXXXXX" Should satisfy anybody who has a brain.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)
