Shipment Approval Letter?

I'm considering ordering a gun from out of state and having it shipped to my FFL.

Today I learned about the CA Dept of Justice Firearms Shipment Approval Letter. Is that something I as the buyer need to obtain before doing an out of state transfer? The FAQ on the DOJ site seems to suggest it's only the FFL who needs that, but I want to make sure before I move forward. Thank you!

It is a FFL only system. Very easy to use. When your local FFL sends the licence to your out of state FFL they will include the CFD number that is needed to get the letter.

*looking back at what I just typed it looks more confusing than it is. Short answer.. no you as the buyer will play no part in this.
