How do I PPT firearms from a dead original owner?

So a good friend of mine's husband passed away last month. She has 4 rifles that were registered to him. They are newer rifles (not C&R). She would like to give them to me. How do i go about legally transferring these rifles into my name since they are registered to someone thats deceased? Can i do the voluntary registration form on them, or is there something special I have to do. Thank you.

the widow just takes the 4 rifles to your local FFL with you, and she does a PPT transfer from her to you. done, assuming that they are CA-legal firearms.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

That's what I did when I bought some guns out of my dead friends collection. His property became hers through intestate succession, provided he didn't have a will. Unless he bought those rifles in 2014 they were NOT registered. Long gun registration began 1/1/2014. Prior to that only Handguns were registered. The guns I bought were handguns and still no issue with his wife transferring them to me.
