    Card Reader Woes

The DES card reader software just went to crap for me. Tried three different cards and they all just made the form jump to the bottom and acquired no data.

Anyone else having issues with DES for card readers that worked fine before?

    Funny you should ask...!
I've submitted a length threat regarding the card reader (check further back) and the Dept. of Justice apparently failing to set up the new DES system to incorporate existing card readers. I've submitted request after request to DOJ concerning the matter. They have fallen on deaf years....no surprise there!!
I finally contacted MAGTEK and spoke with Mark Baker.
He has apparently received numerous complaints re. same. He suggested, and I did, that I purchase a new MAGTEK, mod. #210731454. He merely punched in those numbers into Google and a distributer came up offering the reader for $40.00 some odd bucks. MAGTEK sells the same reader for $85.00!!
Received the reader, plugged it into a USB port (My previous reader was a pin type issued by DOJ) and my system works flawlessly....or at least till DOJ makes another change..........

Odd but mine started working again. I have no idea why.

Perhaps because they made some changes. Notice the added "populate fields" button that you have to press now?

I don't have to press the "populate fields"!! Go figure. I just swipe the D/L and spaces fill in automatically.

I am convinced that all this is an "anti-gun" conspiracy

You might want to clear your web browser cache. Perhaps it is using old data.

It was working long after that addition. Stopped working on Friday and continued through the weekend; then, just started working again. Go figure,

Yeah, because they don't document to the users the changes that they are making. Perhaps an older version got used for a bit :-).
