    DES Acquisition Field

Hello, just want to be sure about this.
ANY handgun or long gun I purchase for inventory from anyone in California and is mailed to me (I am an FFL01) must be entered into the acquisition field in the new DES system, and I must request sig and thumbprint as well as DL info. Correct?

Does this apply to out of state purchases ( Gunbroker, Armslist, etc.)?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

I'm pretty sure FDAS is only required for firearms you purchase for your inventory face-to-face from a non-licensee.

DES Acquisition field is for FFL's who are 2nd hand dealers or pawnbrokers who either Pawn or buy from customers directly. However dealers who do consignments would use this.

No, you do not use this for guns shipped from individuals to your store.

Thanks for the responses. Using the DES Acquisition field is new to me and the wording of the Regs somewhat confusing, I am a tabletop FFL and purchase occasionally from Gunbroker and fellow Calgunners, never FTF, and want to make sure I am following all laws.
