    California to Arizona Gun Sale

    I have two questions:

    1) What do you have to do to sell a CA registered gun to someone in AZ so that it is taken out of the registered owners name, I know they do not register guns in AZ but I want it taken out of my name in CA.

    2) What do I have to do to "Un-register" my guns if I move to AZ or does it matter as long as I still own them?

All I can find is discussion about bringing guns into the state nothing about taking them out. I asked a guy at a gun shop in AZ and he said because they do not register guns he did not know what was involved in doing this.

Any help with this would be appreciated

There is no requirement or need to "de-register" any firearms you sell. Just make sure you ship or hand deliver the firearm to an Arizona FFL. The FFL will then transfer the firearm to your buyer. If at some time in the future the police question you about the firearm you can just tell them the name and address of the FFL in Arizona who handled the transfer and his records will show he received the firearm from you and transfered it to your buyer.

If you really want to you can mail in this form to CalDOJ...

They won't really take the gun out of your name. The gun will still be listed under your name in CalDOJ's records, but it will have a notation next to it that you transfered it to somebody else.

The only option is the same "No Longer In Possession" form mentioned above. It is not required and doesn't really help you in any way.
