    Chinese SKS Paratrooper 7.62x39

If an original Chinese SKS Paratrooper 7.62x39 rifle does not have a fixed flash hider and the barrel is screwed on, not fixed, barrel is 16", is it legal to own in CA if purchased off an out of state retail website? Pics attached. Thank you!

As pictured, that semi-auto centerfire rifle is CA legal.

I thought so, but because the flash hider isn't fixed, the "barrel" may not fully measure 16", which was my concern. Any thoughts on that?

If the barrel measures less than 16 inches with the non-permanent flash hider removed then it's a "short barreled rifle" that you can't bring into California and you can't possess in any other State without proper NFA paperwork.
