How legit are SSE and are they reasonable?

I was considering a SSE purchase (of a semi auto weapon modified to SSE) and visited two different FFL's I frequent to receive for me and their reactions were in no uncertain terms "no way".... They mention the new programing, that they have to describe what they are selling and such. I was going to check with a 3rd FFL I know.. but the after the unequivocal reactions; one even claiming that any gun I bought as SSE could not be listed on at CCW because on check, it would come back as single shot (I didnt necessarily buy this argument), I decided to check with the experts.

So are these types of sales realistic or are they shady? I definitely don't want to violate any laws but the roster thing is really hampering gun selection.

I can understand the FFL's being paranoid so I dont fault them.

They are legit. The DES system for handguns is no different than the old DROS system in terms of the details entered for a firearm.

What they are saying is CCW is also bunk. For example, say you bought a G23 that is On Roster as a .40 pistol, but decided to CCW same pistol with 9mm barrel. Nothing illegal about that.

They are paranoid, yes, but it doesn't change the "legit"imacy of owning a SSE pistol.

Also, I didn't know LEO cared if you carried a Single Shot pistol or not. I thought it just had to meet caliber requirements of > .22?

Read the SSE sticky and find an FFL on that list for Gawds shake...

Shops are free to not do or accept transfers of SSE guns, but you should fault any FFL who spreads incorrect information as fact.

Thanks. I wasnt really buying what the one was saying about CCW and he went on and on.. he was particularly paranoid. The other store just said he didn't do it and I didnt press them or fault them.
