I just got a call from my ATF agent. I guess she was in another state for a while, but has asked to setup an appointment next week.

They took my money in late February.

Do you have to wait until you have your FFL to apply for the Ca DOJ permits, or can you start that process and send your FFL after the fact?

                need to wait,app requires a ffl #.

will be filing exempt anyway with doj and do service based gunsmithing

Review the ATF reference guide #5300.4, be prepared to explain and show your in-house safety measures and record keeping practices, ask questions, ask for the agent's ID at the door to verify they are who they say they are (seriously, I got scolded for not doing so when my agent visited me - it's a security thing). Other than that, just relax.

Im still waiting for my call from an agent for my interview. Been about 3 weeks since my app went out. Do you guys have a safe inside your "office" where you store your business firearms? I read somewhere that a lock on a closet door would meet the needs for storage, but the closet in my future office room has sliding doors. I was thinking of picking up a 2nd safe and putting it in the office. I have one for personal firearms already but don't think I can mix business and personal firearms. Just want to get the office completely ready before I get the call

                              my time line was this:
app went out 2-28...signed fore 3-6
                              entered in to system 3-13
                              sent to field office 4-4
                              interview 4-18

you need to have a separate safe for business vs. personal firearms or personal firearms must have tag's stating they are personal firearms on them.
he was vague about storage of firearms...but the state will come and require a safe, also your INS.company will want you to have one as well(900 a year buy the way for ins.).
