    Business License - Improper Wording?

So I have reviewed both the CALDOJ site and the "how to get a FFL" here.

I got my business license in and it just says type of business: "Retail." I may have to talk to someone different, but it sounded like their license system just had drop down boxes to best place people into a category. (i.e. food service, retail).

So does anyone have examples or experience with this section:
"A letter from the licensing authority stating the jurisdiction does not require any form of regulatory or business license or does not otherwise restrict or regulate the sale of firearms."

Or do we know what "form" this is:
"In the form prescribed by the Attorney General"

Your license must say "Valid for Retail Sales of Firearms". PC26705(b)(2)

The DOJ is probably going to reject it if it does not.

Yeah I wasn't sure if anyone has seen a template letter if they are not able to change what my stuff says to a long sentence. The lady I spoke with yesterday seemed to be of the opinion that they only have drop down boxes to select from for the type of businesses to go on the license - retail sale of firearms not being one of them.

I just noticed also, my license is good for a few years - so I guess I need to tell them they have to shorten the duration? I'm going to be their favorite person.

My city clerk has a ink pad and stamp they use for "valid retail sales firearms" I just take them by new business license when it gets renewed and one of the girls grabs the stamp and I'm on my way within a minute. See if that's something your city does might be as simple as that.

          How old school and simple.

I just got back from there. The new lady was super nice, she wasn't sure if they can add it to the system, but she said they will work with me to get me what I need. Feeling a bit better.

I apologize for the questions. Sometimes, it's like I'm having to guide and coach these guys through the process. Because of that, when I go in I like to sound confident like I know wtf I am talking about lol!

Thanks for all the help! One step back today - but hopefully two steps forward next week!

Yea, West Covina has a city funded banner over one of the streets that says "the most business friendly city in LA" and its true. They couldn't be more helpful.

Really is nice that there are still logical people out there in the world who don't over complicate things. Getting my FFL and pawnbroker license here was a piece of cake. Most cities hate dealing w gun shops and pawn shops and West Covina was great. No hassles on anything. Met the chief of police for the FFL application and was a super nice dude. The police here are all good guys and most come here to do their DROS for their personal guns. Honestly we've got pawn shops all over CA and its a pain to get most stuff done, but here its awesome. Just bragging at this point but it really is refreshing.

Last year my county business office printed a label with the correct wording and stuck it on the business license. This year they manually typed it on the license. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I wonder if I can take the label for them and just get someone to sign it on top?

Going to try that today. As stupid as this sounds, I didn't think they would accept something like that. I was going to just ask them to put it on by hand, wasn't sure if that would fly.

Mine says Firearms Dealer and there was no issue.

They did send my application back when I initially sent it in because I didn't include a copy of my state resellers permit, which was annoying

I went to get my business license and its stats Retail sales of firearms. Will this be a problem or does it need to say "Valid for the retail sale of firearms"

Ours simply says "RTL FIREARMS". DOJ is good with that..

Thank you. I will give the county a call. The guy behind the counter told me to come back since he is trying to chnage their database. So I should be fine with Retail sales of Firearms

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person with this issue. Even happier to see that a variety of permits languages work ;p.

Today I was able to get my license stuff fixed. It took a while, but she tried a few things and then it finally worked on the computer to print out on the license. So this is good!

I took a backup option of a label I printed out that they could stick on top of the license . We didn't need that though! Now to get my COE and FFL w/ the ATF.
