So I have a customer having his Ruger sent to me from Botach..he says Botach told him it was California compliant, but I don't see anything on Rugers site or Botachs about CA compliant..this thing still needs a BB right? If this thing shows up on my doorstep with no BB am I best just to ship it back since I don't have an AW permit? Any help is appreciated…at this point, it's the customer/Botach's fcuck up not mine---and I'm fine to keep it that way.

I would not trust somebody just because they say its CA compliant. If its a centerfire semi-auto rifle with a detachable magazine AND any of the other features you have an AW. So then yes a BB would need to be installed BEFORE it came into CA.

I have asked DOJ about what they want me to do when we got shipped an AW, they said just send it back. However, you are out the cost of shipping it back and likely your customer wont come in to reimburse you for the freight.

We have a customer agreement that we use and we tell them that if it comes in non compliant its their cost to return it, plus our PITA fee.

I would probably do some more research on the gun before you agree to do the interstate transfer for your customer.

If this is the A-salt weapon in question then you would need that BB installed before it came in .

If Botach is saying it is CA compliant then the odds are it has been retrofitted with a bullet-button. They don't come from the mfr like that so it would not be on Ruger's site. It's been my experience that dealers will perform retrofits on guns that would otherwise be "assault weapons" in CA in order to do business with CA customers. I purchased a KelTec Sub 2000 from Double D's a couple of years ago, and it arrived with a bullet-button type mechanism and butt stock extension, both of which are necessary for CA complaince. If you have questions, call the customer or Botach (or both) and verify what is meant by "CA compliant".

I was told the same thing, but the problem is that the said to immediately ship it back, so if you don't have the money in advance, then you could be stuck paying for the return shipping. Yes, you can ban the customer. Also, you could demand that the customer come in immediately and pay you.

Another option is to turn it over to the police and let the customer and the FFL sort it out.

How do you force the customer to pay? Do you require the customer to come in first to sign the customer agreement?
