Can my parts leave jail?

    Basically the OP implied that he should be able to take whatever parts etc from the handgun he wanted to since he paid for it and is his... not true. Legally, we as dealers, own the gun until the process is complete. I.E 4473 signed off, deliver gun button clicked and the dros resigned.

    That all being said, I would never allow it as it was dros'd as a handgun, not just a frame and then of course the HSC requirement at pick up.

      We let people take their parts all the time...and encourage them to do so. The customer is more comfortable with their stuff in their possession, as are we. I think that most ffl ' s would agree that being responsible for a minimum of other people's property is best for all involved.

        While we, as FFL, actually own the firearm until transferred, the customer has paid for it, which means that the FFL has to allow it.

        Yes, this is true.

        I personally don't care if the customer takes other items. For handguns, I need a complete firearm and for long guns, it needs to be same as it is listed on the DROS (before it did not matter as much, but it should match the 4473).
