    Germany to USA (Transfer Questions)

I'm heading over to Germany for several weeks next month and I've coordinated with a local club to have a look at some target rifles for sale. The rifles would be purchased from an individual seller (not through a manufacturer or store). They would be used by me personally, not for resale.

I am not an FFL or affiliated with a store.

I'm having a difficult time navigating the ATF & TTB websites to figure out what the process is for me to obtain a firearm and bring it back into California for personal use. I have no doubt it's a huge hassle and headache but given the cost of these rifles even @ 15% tax it's still far cheaper than buying them over here.

If anyone has specifics or direct experience with this process I'd appreciate your insight. I figure the rifle will need to go through an FFL.

I've never done this, but you use an ATF form 6. It has to ship to an FFL. Pretty sure the seller has to ship it, because you can't take possession of it in Germany. Not sure if seller will need an export permit.

You should contact someone like Simpson. They do this all the time.

I appreciate the response. Who is this Simpson person you refer to? Sorry, I don't frequent these boards enough to know people by their names.
