    Buying 1950's .22

I'm looking at buying a 1950's .22 rifle that is C&R. The question I have is apparently with the new laws it has to be registered but since this rifle was manufactured without a serial number how can it be registered?

What kind of gun? My old .22s still have serial #s. one was hard to find but I looked on the web and found a pic of where it was.

SNs were not required on long guns until the CGA of 1968. Many millions of .22lrs and shotguns are still floating around with SNs on them. I wonder if Delong knows that? Are they all "ghost guns" now?

OK, to answer the question, if I was a FFL, I'd fill out the CA DROS information the same way I'd fill out the 4473. SN - NONE.

            Off topic side note:

My pop grew up in Chicago during the 1950's and his dad taught him how to shoot a .22 rifle in the basement. They used some phone books as a back stop. I always got a kick out of the fact they shot the .22 in the basement of a tiny house in an urban neighborhood. Chicago has come a long was since then.

One thing I saw others said to use and a person at the DOJ (not DES) said to use was "2antique". I think that there are others "special" entries as well.

Just picked up a .22 Glenfield 80 bolt before the end of the year.
                  Made between 1934 - 1939. No serial.

Took it out last Sunday, and she's a shooter.
