Multiple Long Guns means multiple DROS to print!

I just realized when you run a customer for multiple guns, they DOJ is making a new DROS for every single one of the guns you run. So if a guy buys 10 long guns, you are going to have 10 DROS sheets. That means 10 signatures from both you and the buyer, that means you are going to have to get 20 more signatures and dates at the time of pick up, and we probably need to ask the ATF what to do with the 4473 21b for NICS number since there are ten!

And the worst part, we are going to have to pay attention to our itemized bills because how do we know if the DOJ is only charging us once or not unless we go look?

This is a paperwork nightmare. My transfer rate is definitely going up and I might raise the cost of guns just to pay for printer paper.

I am done keeping all of this crap together. Everything is getting separated out and I am going to start shredding DROS after the 3 years (it is 3 years right?).

How has this changed? I have found mistakes in the past, especially with multiple handgun purchases, as well as when it was by phone I was charged for the DROS from someone else (typo of the CFD number?). The last one would have been interesting if the person had been denied.

Is that all state-related transfer paperwork (e.g., including secondary proof of residence required only by CA), or just the DROS forms themselves? Is there a relevant penal code section? I may have read it at one time, but I haven't been able to find it again.
        That's just my $1.05.

Recently I just posted a complaint about a related topic

              Penal Code Section 28240
Beginning January 1, 2014, only one fee shall be charged pursuant to this article for a single transaction on the same date for taking title or possession of any number of firearms.

When I read this I thought "hot damn" I can buy a gun and 3 days in go buy another and only have to pay one DROS since I "take possession" after the 10/24hour periods - basically, when I pick up.

Then found out from ke6guj that not only can you not add firearms once the DROS is closed, but that there are some FFLs charging people $25 for each firearm because they don't realize that they can chain together multiple DROSes when the purchases are made.

Only in CA. "If we don't like the PC, we'll just write a piece of software that forces you to comply with what we want"

*nodding* this is way I have always kept my state and Fed paperwork separate.

Through all of my inspections it has always gone the same way. The Fed's get pissy if the state paperwork is added to the Fed's 4473. The state gets pissy if it's not.

                Fed's win.

plus in the last 10 years the space needed to store just the state side of the paperwork has tripled compared to the 4473's. We are generating an obscene amount of paperwork for the state.

Clear uh kinda. Looks like all ca required paperwork (not just the DROS) for the purchase of a firearm but keep all paperwork required for federal.

From day 1 (based on feedback from here) I've always kept my files separate. Not only separate, but in different drawers in my cabinet so if I'm pulling out state paperwork you can't see any federal stuff etc...

I just heard back from my ATF agent and she said that exactly word for word. Write small.

All DROS numbers associated with the 4473 must be in 21b.

I can see audits being quite interesting in the new year. What a mess.

Gonna have to work on the prison kite printing. Not a skill I ever though of developing before.
