My license is up for renewal. I currently hold an 01 and am wondering what the benefits are to changing to an 07 Manufacturer FFL. Any comments? Suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

There are possible additional taxes/fees to be paid for an 07FFL. You can build firearms, including putting together AR rifles.Kemasa.

The 07 is a separate license so you would have to re-apply. The first step is to check your zoning/local ordinances to make sure that manufacturing activity is permitted at your premises.
Insurance - you may or may not be covered under your old policy, so find it if you can get coverage as some insurers will handle dealers but not manufacturers. If you do get coverage expect your premium to increase.
The ITAR fee is an additional $2,250.00 per year. I don't know if CA hits manufacturers with any additional fees.
The benefit of course is that you can make guns and sell them.Comment
