    Rifle Turning From Repairs

My rifle is returning from repairs, back to the FFL I bought the rifle from. The manufacture insists that it goes back to a FFL not the individual. My question is do I need to DROS the rifle again? I do not think so but just want to make sure.

If the manufacturer replaced the receiver (new serial numbers), than it needs to be transferred (4473/DROS/10 day wait) through a CA FFL dealer.

As I understand it, the firearm can be returned to who sent it in. If the FFL sent it in, then it can be returned to you directly without any paperwork, same as that it can be returned directly to you from the manufacturer.

The problem is that if you sent it in and the firearm returns it to the FFL, then the FFL can't just return it to you, the paperwork has to be done.

Yea, I've already had my gun returned directly to me but in this case Christensen Arms will only return it to a FFL. No receiver was replaced, just the trigger unit. I'm going to email my FFL with the rifle's serial # to see what can be done. I would hate to DROS the rifle again because this time it will be registered....

There is no requirement that they return it to a FFL and if it goes through a FFL, it is going to cost you more, so perhaps suggesting that they talk to the BATF and the CA DOJ and that they should pay all the costs if they demand it go through a FFL would cause them to change their mind and do what the law allows.
