How do you document exemptions for both HSC and Safe Handling?

Greetings, as someone interested in the benefits of possessing a CCW, I discovered that holding a valid CA CCW permit exempts one from needing the HSC and also the safe handling demonstration. My favorite local FFL wasn't aware that a CCW exempted one from performing the handling demo and pondered if someone was exempt, what to do with the mandatory affidavit. My thought was that he'd simply attach proof of the exemption to the affidavit for when the DOJ comes around to audit records.

I'm curious how other FFLs handle recording the exemption to the safe handling demonstration? Thanks for the responses, I've already done the research and have the Penal Code sections setting forth the exemptions, but "law" and actual "practice" are two separate things, and at the end of the day, I'm sure the FFL wants to keep the DOJ happy so as to not jeopardize the license.

    Thanks for your input.
(See Penal Code Sections 26850, 31615, and 31700.)

If the purchaser is exempt from the HSC requirement, he is also exempt from the demo (i.e., the demo is not mandatory). Dealer just photocopies the CCW and claims the X-41 exemption.

A very minor added benefit is that your CCW can also act as your proof of residence.
