Missing Manufactures from Long Gun Form

In the pull down tab there is a listing for many manufactures. But, as a small dealer I have a house brand billet lower which is not made by me (an 01) but has the shop logo on it. Umbrella is not on there and noticed Magpul is not on the "roster" either and they did make some lowers.

Called DOJ and the young lady was helpful but had no idea what I was talking about. Gave my number and she said they will call me back.

    Will post results.

Figured I would split it out so not to make the other post more confusing with multiple topics.

I'm a fan of your approach. I just hadn't gotten around to posting on that thread with a reference back to this thread before you posted here. In retrospect, I probably should have done that the other way around....

          DOJ just called back.

If it is not on the list always use the "Made in xxx" if it is made in the United States the "U S".

But if you find one which is not on there, call them and they will get it updated.

I told her about a few.

          Jakl Firearms
          Magpul
          Umbrella Corp
          Shadow Ops
          Good Times...

If its not on there they seem willing to add it.

I know, but "U S" is listed. so use it for US made rifles/receivers. It is the forth listing under the U's.

Nope. It's still not there for me. There is:
                  • ...
                  • MADE IN THE GAMBIA
                  • ...
                  • MADE IN UGANDA
                  • MADE IN UPPER VOLTA
                  • MADE IN URUGUAY
                  • ...

There is no "MADE IN [THE] UNITED STATES", no "MADE IN [THE] US", no "MADE IN [THE] USA", no "MADE IN [THE] U.S.", or anything else remotely applicable. Are you seeing an item in your drop-down menu that I'm not?

I might have been confused. Did you mean that the DOJ told you to select the "U S" item to mean "[made in the] U S"? (I.E., there's no "MADE IN ..."?)

That definitely was not there this morning. I see it now. It's confusing as hell though.

Every time I'm forced to interact with the state, I am amazed at how often they get it wrong. I shouldn't be though. They have no incentive to do any kind of QA. We bear all of the risk. They reap all of the reward.

You would have thought that they would have asked us first or put together a panel of us to help them design a user friendly version that gets everything right the first time.

I am developing a list of things that need a fixin' and sending it in once we flush them all out.

United States should be the first drop down on the list!!

That is not consistent with the arrogance of statists.

I recommend an alternate approach. Every time you notice an oddity or bug, click on the Report an Issue link at the top of the DES page. Unless you are getting a specific error message, if it has anything to do with the transfer of a firearm, I would select "I am having trouble submitting a DROS transaction" in the "Issue Type" drop down. Otherwise, I would pick what's appropriate. Describe the issue as best as you can in 200 characters and submit it. The more issue reports they get on a particular topic (like the you-can-only-log-in-between-7-and-11), the more likely it will be on their radar to fix. For example, here's a dumb one I noticed last night:

Issue : Other, my issue is not listed Submitted: 01/01/2014 09:53 PM

XXX said: If I view an issue in my issue log, and then return to the listing of issues, the "Date Reported" field becomes the last time I *viewed* the issue rather than the actual date reported. This is wrong. (initial issue report)

DOJ Response (01/01/2014 10:24 PM ): We are going to look into this. Thank you for reporting the issue.

Perhaps, but I understand having it be sorted by alphabetical order as well. What screws everything up is the DOJ's inconsistency. There's a bunch of items that start with "MADE IN", but a few countries (including "U S") don't follow that convention. It destroys the benefits of sorting alphabetically.

I was thinking more on the line of things like

                          1. Having the dropdown list search as I type So I do not have to use my mouse.

                          2. Having the tab button consistantly move the cursor to the next field I need to type in.

                          3. Having a submit button on the page after I click the check box stating the info is correct and they are charging me. I have to hit enter now.

4 Having today's DROS show up when I want to review them (currently only yesterdays and before shows up).

5.Not having to retype the serial number. Cut and paste is fine and works well for those that know how to review a serial number.

And So on and so on

I'd submit all of them (each one as a separate issue). By the way, I don't know if it works on yours, but cut-and-paste for the serial number seems to be disabled on mine.

Not that the system will stay up long enough for you to check today, but there is an entry of "U S" - that is "U" <space> "S". When I called this morning and asked how I was supposed to sell a RifleGear firearm they suggested I use "U S" and then write "RifleGear" into the comments field, but that someone would get back to me to be sure. Of course, that was back when I thought the system may actually stay up for more than 5 minutes to complete a transaction.
