Background checks, now for EACH GUN?!

A longstanding beef of mine (and others) has been the DROS fee that gets charged twice for a single person purchasing a handgun alongside several long guns.

However, when I logged into the new DROS system this morning, I was presented with the pleasant surprise that it appears that the $25 background check now applies to each gun, irrespective of type. That means if someone wants to purchase a handgun and two long guns, they have to be subjected to three different background checks.

Can anyone verify this? I don't recall this being a part of the barrage of new laws, but I might have missed something.
    That's just my $1.05.

The DROS fee fiasco is why I refuse to purchase any more firearms in this state. If they had enough to raid the fund to redirect money, they were charging too much to begin with.

      Items to note:
      1) Handguns can be combined with Long Guns for a SINGLE DROS Transaction Fee when all run at the same time
      2) FDAS goes away and is part of DES (DROS Entry System)
      3) Multiple Accounts per site for employees vs. 1 per dealer
      4) A "Delivered Gun" button which is only active after 240 hours and must be pressed for the delivery of each firearm
      5) You can start enrolling in new system (https://des.doj.ca.gov) 11/4/2013, becomes effective 1/1/2014
      6) MAXIMUM Delay 30 days. After that you're allowed to release firearm even if DOJ is "undetermined".
      7) 90 days of history to make corrections, cancelations

I understand that's what was promised, but that's not what the actual DES site says. Right now I do not see a way to conduct one DROS transaction covering multiple guns. One has to conduct a single transaction for each gun. At the bottom of each transaction page, there's a confirmation box that must be checked that says the dealer consents to a $25 fee.

Again, I have not tested this, but it makes it pretty clear that the dealer is consenting to one $25 fee for each gun transferred. I might be misusing the system, but I would imagine others would be confused about this as well.

Does anyone know if there another way to conduct a multi-gun transfer?

My guess is when you check that you want to do another transaction for that person, they should only charge you once. There is no way to tell though until you try it and hopefully they don't double charge us. It would seem awfully easy to over charge and assume people wouldn't check.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

Ah, okay. I see it now. It's in the "What would you like to do next?" list on top of the newly-submitted DROS form for printing.

What happens if you accidentally miss your opportunity to click on that link, I wonder? It's not there on the "Review DROS" version....

Better get it right the first time. The price for clicking the wrong link is $25, paid for by the dealer. They used our money to make a crappy UI, now we pick up the tab for their failure, twice. Straight from the donkey's mouth:

XXX said: If I inadvertenly do not elect to perform another transfer for XXX after submitting a transfer, but instead return to the main menu, how to I go back to avoid double charging for a multi-gun transfer? (initial issue report)

DOJ Response (01/01/2014 10:15 PM ): You are unable to go back once you go to the main menu. You must ensure you select "Submit another transaction for (name of purchaser)". Otherwise you will be charged again.

XXX said (01/01/2014 10:43 PM ): This is a problem if the FFL clicks on the wrong link by mistake. Is the DOJ going to fix this?

DOJ Response (01/03/2014 02:10 PM ): Hi XXX, Unfortunately you will have the pay the $25 transfaction fee.

excuse the handwriting of a co-worker....

regarding this statement and what" if applicable" means:

                "SUBMITTING ADDITIONAL DROS TRANSACTIONS
If applicable, more than one DROS transaction may be submitted under a single DROS
submission. Additional DROS transactions will not incur any additional DROS fees."

note. for all you none math people X is a variable and so is Y meaning they can stand for more than one specific number.
ps i don't remember if you can do multiple ppt handguns at one time. i thought you could but simply haven't dealt with it
