Interstate intrafamilial transfer of off-roster handgun (How-to in DROS software)

My son lives out of state and has an older S&W revolver that he wants to give to me.

I know that it is legally allowable, but my usual FFL transfer dealer advises that he is unable to perform the transaction using the DOJ software. Apparently one of the problems is that the system will not accept an out of state driver's license for the transferor.

Are there any California FFL's that can provide the step-by-step procedures for entering this type of transaction into the DROS system? Alternatively, are there any North Sacramento/Placer County FFL's that will perform this transaction?

    Thanks

He's doing it wrong if he is attempting to run as a PPT. He should use the option for "Curio/Relic/Olympic Pistol/Exempt" and run it through just as he would a Single Action revolver such as a Ruger Vaquero obviously replacing the gun details with your firearm. It has been advised that he use the "Comments" field to add "SB 15 Exempt - 12078(c) intrafamily transfer, 12133PC Roster exempt". Not all of that will fit typing so I usually shorten it

He would log it into his A&D log coming from either your son or his FFL depending how it was shipped. This process is no different then receiving any other firearm.

If he still doesn't know what to do with the above information then you should find another FFL in your area.

So he should run it as a regular interstate gun sale and select the "Curio/Relic/Olympic Pistol/Exempt" option with explanation that it is exempt from the roster as an intrafamily transfer?
