    XD9101 HC?

Hi there all... I'm sure I'm opening a can of worms, but I just can't help it. I need this question answered.

I have someone who wants to buy an XD9, and I can't seem to get my hands on one that's CA compliant out of the box at the moment from the distributors I've hooked up with so far (Model XD9101), but I can get my hands on XD9101HC and XD9101HC06 all day. These are the same gun, and the only difference is the other stuff in the box from what I can tell. I would imagine these are a no-go since the model isn't exactly the same (and is not rostered with the whole model number), but I remember being in a boat similar when I ordered an XD9611HCSP06 online (not listed on the roster with that whole number) for myself through a dealer a few years back (pre-FFL), and he DROS'ed me the gun and kept the high cap mags trading them out for some 10 rounders he had. I figured I'd ask someone else who may have had experience with this, so here it goes. Can I DROS an XD9101HCSP06 to someone, and specifically has anyone here actually done this? I found a thread talking about this, but it doesn't actually answer the question... it can be found here http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=742420

I realize I may have answered my own question here with my past experience, but I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure, or has proof from DOJ if it's good to go... Just being extra cautious. I called DOJ earlier, but no answer. I'll try again tomorrow and leave a voicemail if I don't get anyone unless I hear a bulletproof response one way or the other here first.

Logging in and logging out is an A&D book thing, and for those purposes, why would I even enter the portion of the UPC that applies to the kit? I'd just enter the model of the gun, which according to the previous post seems to be XD9101 not the HCSP06 portion... The box doesn't actually say "MODEL XD9101HCSP06", it would say "UPC CODE XD9101HCSP06"; this is just an extrapolation from the XD I mentioned I had DROS'ed to me a few years back that says "UPC CODE XD9611HCSP06", and another one I have that says "UPC CODE XD9101" which was also DROS'ed to me. I haven't ordered it yet for the customer, but I think I'm answering my own question here. I'll call the DOJ BOF later today though and ask them.

for the AD book you are right you would log in

        Spring -XD-SN-pistol-cal-date-vender.

Your invoice from your vender will have ALL the info on it. So you will have logged in the SN# from the gun you received from you vender and that SN# is for a gun/package that is not on roster.

At one time this may have worked but now that most of the guns on the roster have sku # it's a no go from what I have been told

If the firearm is the same exact model, then you can DROS it. Different model numbers due to aspects other than the firearm does not matter. So-called high capacity magazines can be swapped out for 10 round magazines. If it comes with other items, that does not affect the firearm, but you need to make sure that it is the same exact firearm that is on the list.

You do not log the model number in your bound book for what includes other items that come in the package, just the firearm.

I spoke with the DOJ this morning, and while this seemed to be the way I was leaning as well, they confirmed that it's 100% correct. They said specifically in the case of the XD9101 where the UPC on the box is XD9101HCSP06, that we're good to go with the DROS. But I figured I'd ask if anyone had any direct experience with this, because I figured better safe than sorry.

Exactly what I was attempting to say above, that part I knew to be correct... ATF couldn't care less what else is in that box so long as it's not more guns (in which case it'd be multiple entries).
