How to handle money transfer on a pistol shipped to an FFL

I have no problem shipping a pistol I am selling within CA because it will be to an FFL, but am not quite sure how to handle the money transfer. Will the FFL hold the gun until the seller has received payment and authorizes its release? Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks!

I've never shipped a gun until I get payment. But that's just me. Think like on eBay they won't ship it until you pay right.

I request either a USPS money order, or a certified check.

The weapon doesn't ship until I cash the money order, or my bank advises me that the check has cleared.

Money order or bank checks are the way to go. I accept credit cards too but Im a business so people sorta expect it from me.

Cashier's check is safer than a bank certified check. The bank is held liable for funds with a cashier's check. A bank certified check only verifies the account holder has funds to pay the amount on the check and it's signed by the account holder. The bank signs a cashier's check.
