Picked up a PPT Pistol today.........

In years past if the pistol/hand gun had a lock in the box that didn't pass, had to have a receipt showing a lock purchase in the last 30 days, or the FFL was required to sell you a new lock. Fast forward to today.

I'm thinking there has been no mention of a lock thru the whole DROS process, but they will probably hit me with the lock when I go to pick up.

I have a bunch of locks in my safe, take one out. Stop @ Big 5 and buy another so I'll have a receipt, and then return it and get my money back once I pick up my PPT. I have the lock from my safe in my pocket and the receipt. The question of a lock never came up?

    Have the laws changed??

No change - locks required as you describe.

Don't quite know why you bring a lock AND buy one - you are not required to use the lock to leave the shop, so the one you buy could remain in its packaging.

      Interesting...

I have a safe and a BUNCH of locks.

Two weeks ago, Bass Pro Shop Rancho Cucamonga SOLD ME ONE without asking. Noticed it on the receipt and asked about it at Pick Up. I was told - THEY REQUIRE buy it. I wasn't going to fight over $5 but one does get tired of the nickel-and-dimeing.

If the gun already comes with a lock you don't need another.

Turners and Ammo Bros both sell you the lock and on the receipt will show the gun the lock is intended for, hence no returns on the lock. CHP offered the yellow safety child locks for free with a dated receipt good for 30 days...anyone know if they still do that?
