    Questions on firearm imports

    Howdy,

I'm about to enter the wonderful world of C&R importation. As some of you know, I've been travelling quite a lot this year, looking for warehouses with old milsurps, and found quite a few of them. Found the money for it, too. Now, for the fun part - getting all the licenses and permits...

Here's where I hit a snag, as I don't have enough information, and the nice people at State Department aren't very forthcoming with the answers. The ATF is way more helpful, however, most of the importation is out of their jurisdiction. In fact, I've learned more info on the State Department business from the folks at ATF than from the... people... at State Department. The main question I have is obtaining the end user certificate, as this is something the sellers of the said C&Rs will need in order to start the paperwork on exporting these C&Rs. The various morons at the State Department were less than helpful with the info on how to apply for it with them, or even the requirements for it that I have to meet.

So, if anyone has this info, please, let me know. Any other info on importing C&Rs would be helpful, as well.

    Thanks,

    nick

P.S.: posting here, as well as in the C&R forum, not sure where I can get the bites.

What Type of FFL do you have? C&R FFLs can't import any milsurps. They can only "occasionally" import commercial sporting C&Rs. If you want to import C&R milsurps for commercial purposes you need to be a Licensed Importer (Type 08 or Type 11).

I suspect you have already seen 15 CFR 748.10 (No, I have no idea what that stuff means.)

Looks like Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security might have jurisdiction.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

I'm in the process of getting Type 7 and 8 FFLs.

I've read it several times. Got more questions than answers
