Question about adding a longarm to a DROS

I did a PPT for a shotgun on 11/2/13. Atlantic Firearms sent me a tracking number indicating that my VEPR 12 will be delivered to the same FFL on 11/8/13. Will that FFL be able to add the VEPR to the PPT DROS done earlier? I asked him about that scenario when I did the PPT and he wasn't sure, but since neither of us anticipated the VEPR making it over so quickly the correct answer wasn't pursued.

    Thanks in advance!!

Technically no. If he had run it as a transfer and put down two guns, you could have done it.

Some might tell you otherwise, but the answer is no, especially in this case since it was a PPT and the second firearm is not part of that PPT.

Can the "add-on" be done on a standard DROS as opposed to a PPT? A local FFL used to do it, but doesn't now. It seemed like more of a policy change than them not following the rules and now following them. I would always end up buying more stuff as I had an "open long gun DROS" so while it is inconvenient and a bit more in fees for me, they are losing sales.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

If you ask the CA DOJ, they say that you can not add on. If you look at the CA PC, there are issues with adding on unless you do it at the same time the DROS is submitted. Some claim that the sale of a second firearm is really part of the original sale, which is a bit of a stretch, but that is how some justify it.

Come 2014 it won't matter as it is very clear then.
