Government shut down?

Anyone know if the DROS SYSTEM will be closed tomorrow with the government shut down?

Good question... I just jailed my Savage Trophy Hunter XP 30-06 package with the Nikon scope at Dick's today. Got an awesome deal on sale for $499, took another $50 off for using their credit card. $510 put the door!

DROS is state DOJ, shutdown is Federal. Also, CA DROS does not use Federal NICS system.

However, I'm suppose to call in the next couple of weeks to get my LOA. I don't think anyone will be there and I might have to shut down.

Someone on another thread mentioned that they called the ATF who told them that they would have a few people there. They'll probably be crazy busy but there should be someone there.

I thought the state queried the federal NICS systems for part of the check? I did see something in the news about "no new gun permits" being issued, but assumed it was specific to Wash DC gun permits, no?

You can always print the 4473s out or use the e4473.

I was just joking Kemasa! I swiped a whole box of 4473s from my uncles pawn shop. They applied for their FFL and got issued about a year ago, but haven't started doing anything firearms related. So a few months back I was like, you don't need these! And I swooped them up! But I have been caught slipping before and I had to copy off about a dozen or so while my new ones got shipped to me.

***Side note, my HSC's came in the mail yesterday after a month of waiting because DOJ returned my perfectly printed legible check saying the amount wasn't correct, even though it was. Conspiracy? I think so!! LOL

Be happy that you got your HSC cards!!! I know of a FFL who never got theirs and it is hard to prove (they gave up). I sent in a check and got a call asking if I had received them, which I had not. It turned out the normal person was on vacation and the replacement just cashed the checks. I had to call again to get them. The last time I had no problem though.

If it was a conspiracy, they would have just cashed your check and waited for you to complain that you did not get them. I just wish that they would do it like the DROS, online. Can you imagine having to buy a DROS submission in advance?

Right, How hard would it be to be able to print out an HSC certificate online? Charge per one you use instead of me having to pony up $300 in advance just to buy two packs of cards.

Flip side of the coin though. I consider the sales tax collections we make as an interest free loan from the state until I have to pay my sales tax payments.

Yes, it would be easy to do the HSC online, plus replacements would be easy as well. It would be easy, but I don't think that is their goal.

Yes, the sales tax is free loan of money, but perhaps your experience is different, but it seems that most of the time the rounding always works in their favor and I have to send them more money than I collect.

HA! You probably are right about the rounding! Seems like that bill gets bigger and bigger each time! Maybe the conspirators are at the BOE not DOJ!

They do. It's required by the Brady Act. The only difference is that CA DOJ makes the NICS check electronically, rather than making a phone call.
