One of the few remaining nice guys.
    Thanks for your help.

? The dealers that don't want to send their FFL are all a**holes or was there something else to that statement I missed? I honestly think sellers that demand them are jerks because they don't need it yet feel they are entitled to it. E.g., imagine what happens when they need to ship their firearm back to Ruger or someone for Warranty..good luck getting the manufacturer to provide you a copy of their FFL..

Maybe a** holes is a bit harsh, but anybody who impedes an individuals right to trade freely a legal product is just not nice.
My FFL is happy to cooperate and understands the law. He supports the second amendment and knows that the easier he can make it for individuals to buy and sell arms the more it promotes 2A.
He is a no fud guy.
That's my view and I'm sticken' to it.

We had a license forged last year. As a result, ATF advised we do not send out licenses anymore.

This irritates FFL's that don't have common sense for some reason.

Actually, my biggest gripe is with those FFL's that won't accept a gun shipped by a citizen who does not have a federal firearms license.
I feel very fortunate to find a guy who goes out of his way to make it easier for private parties to buy and sell firearms.

Any private seller who won't just use the BATF ezcheck to confirm the status of the FFL is a real problem, not the FFL who won't give a copy of the FFL to someone who does not need it.

Because that is all they need. If you demand a copy of the person's social security card, birth certificate, etc. would that be acceptable?

Apples and Oranges kemasa. Until recently, FFls had no problem sending a copy of their license to a seller...no one demanded anything it was just the way we did business. I appreciate finding a ffl who still does it that way. That's the way I like it.
Tomy knowledge, not many ffl's have ever been asked to send their birth certificates, marriage licenses etc. to sellers.
Bottom line...kemasa... feel free to send whatever you want.

My ATF rep told me to never send a copy of my FFL to anyone. They can take the license, forge it and buy weapons under my name. They can use the BATF ezcheck system to confirm the status of the FFL.

So who's committing a crime? The guy that forged your license or you? Unbelievable that, on this site, we are condeming the law abiding and holding the criminal blameless.

It didn't happen to me, just repeating what the ATF rep told me when I opened my business.

I agree the EZ check is sufficient evidence to allow a private individual the ability to know they are sending that firearm to a licensee. I have no problem providing my first 3 and last 5 to confirm my license is current. As stated forged licenses happen. This is why FFLs are told by ATF in their publications to FFLs and with their inspectors that where it is not illegal for us to send a copy it is recommended that it you don't. As for the law there is nothing that says the individual receive a copy of the license, only that the firearm be shipped to an FFL.

One thing everyone is forgetting here is that the FFL is a private business and has the right to conduct their business anyway they please. If it is their store policy to not send a copy of the license you can always use somebody who is willing to do it. Just like the FFL is not required to accept your firearm for your interstate transfer if they don't want to.

I think that stoney is not condemning the law abiding but making the point that as a business an FFL is more likely to be the victim of fraudulent purchases. Its just like locking your doors and garage at night. You don't blame people who take precautions to guard themselves from crime, yet you are condemning a particular FFL who is guarding himself from fraud?
