Dros - Delay - HELP! what are options?

    Hi all,

I got delayed on a Dros from the DOJ about 3 weeks ago.

My LGS guy told me the be "patient" and wait it out. Easy for him to say...
I then read that some people waited over 3-6 months! That is insane and ridiculous.

    So couple questions...

1.) If the DOJ puts a hold/delay on a DROS, isn't there a time limit for them to either release the "delay" or reject it by law?

2.) Don't they need to give us a reason to why it was delayed? If it was a little hiccup that could be fixed by the person, wouldn't it be easier for them to clear it up that way instead of going radio silent?

Looking for good direction to quickening the process to get the delay resolved?

What have you done to fix your delay? Who did you call/contact?

    help meh!!!

Good luck. I have a customer still on hold from Dec 2012. Nothing he has seemed to provide has helped his case AND he had just bought a firearm about 6 weeks before he started DROS with me and was a-ok... He's pretty pissed because they don't seem to give him any reason or indication on wtf is going on. I had a few other customers delayed from April 2013 that were just released a couple weeks ago. No rhyme or reason from what the customers have told me.

Sorry you're in the boat, but hopefully yours is one of those that clears sooner than later..

One of the culprit you got delayed is FBI background check, somehow they messed up. Nothing much you can do other than be patient.

Given the 1 day difference you MIGHT be able to convince the DOJ person working on the delayed DROS to talk to the person who worked on the DROS for the firearm that was released to you.

            1) No.
            2) No.

The new standard is guilty til you prove yourself innocent. Suggestion: Get a livescan done. You will have the result within a week. If there are any arrests without a disposition, that is likely the problem. If that is the case you will have to go to the court of jurisdiction and have them send a certified copy of the disposition of your case to DOJ.

Do you have a number I can call to get a live person on the line?

I just keep getting a 24/7 answering machine when I call...

There is no way to speak to a person on the phone. I was just delayed for no reason (I've got no arrests, no warrants, absolutely 100% pristine record, and have purchased firearms in CA lawfully for over 7 years). All phones lead to a automated message that they cannot discuss your case over the phone.

Best idea is get a livescan done, as the previous poster said (I'm getting mine today). If there isn't anything on there that would cause concern (which would be erroneous anyway) then I'm going to bring it to CGF as this would be a unconstitutional denial of a firearm to a law abiding citizen.

I have had customers get through to a live person (not sure how). They used the information on the DROS Denial Paperwork:
