Interstate intra-familial?

I looked but could not find an answer so forgive me if this has been asked and answered before.

Does the transfer need to go through FFL holders on both ends, shipping as well as receiving? I know it needs to be received by a Ca FFL holder to do the transfer, but does federal law require it to be shipped by an FFL holder in the other state, or can the owner ship via FedEx to the shop in CA? Thanks in advance for answers.

It only has to be received my an FFL. Some FFL's will only receive from other FFL's though. Check with your's first.

Not sure where you are, but saw EBay. We're in Fremont. No issue receiving from individuals. We just ask for copy of DL and that they fill out a personal sales form or in the case of intra familial a gift letter.

Ok, I'd like to get some clarification. My dad lives out of State, says he'd like to purchase a firearm for me for Christmas. Told him I wouldn't mind a G30S. Can we do an interstate intra-familial transfer?

Yes, as long as the proper steps are taken. Your FFL will want dad to send it with copy of his ID and note saying I 'dad' give 'son' this firearm as a gift. make model sn. G30S? is this the Glock 30 SF? Not sure. Im in West Covina and can do the intrafamiliar transfer for you if you are close by.

It's the Glock 30S (non roster-single stack .45). I think that is my main concern. You are about 30-40 mins away. Not too far if costs are right.
