    A receiver is a long gun in California. Can't DROS it as a pistol; LEO or not.

      Really??? Federally, it's neither a long gun nor a handgun. State-wise, it is what is declared on the CFLC authorization letter when entering the state.

        incorrect. a receiver is just a receiver. It can be DROSed as a "handgun frame" if the buyer is roster-exempt.

                Mark it unknown and put it in the comments section. For good measure you can send in a DROS correction form as well
