1 handgun per month rule, dros.

I messaged someone on here inquiring about a handgun they told me that after purchasing a handgun you only have to wait 20 days to dros another handgun, after your 10 day wait period that will equal 30 days.

So, can you dros another handgun 20 days after picking up your last handgun?

30 day wait, take-away 10 for hold = 20 days. You can start a DROS on a pistol after 30 days from starting the previous one.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

this is correct. it has nothing to do when you pick up the gun, it is based on when you start the DROS. if you waited 20-days to pick up gun #1, you'd only have to wait 10-days to start the second one, so don't count from pickup date, start counting from the initial DROS submission date.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

To add on to the OP's question, is one able to purchase more handguns within those 30 days or so and just have the FFL hold them until another handgun is ready to be DROS'd? That is if the FFL is willing to hold them, i'm not quite clear about that.

CADOJ only cares about when then handgun DROS is submitted. any private arraignments between you and the FFL to have them hold handguns on deposit, layaway, etc have nothing to do with when they are DROSed.

Unlike new handgun sales, Private party transfers of handguns have no waiting period between purchases.

Just to clarify, I started my last hangun dros on the 31st of last month (picked it up on the 10th of august, 10 day wait) So I can start another handgun dros on the 30th of this month?

If you are passed the 720th hour from the time the first DROS was electronically submitted, then yes.

This depends on the FFL as to how long they will hold them. I've had pistols on hold for 5 months before but because I'm such a good customer, they make an exception when normally they only hold for 3 months.

Thanks, yeah it would be a safe bet to wait till at least the 31st, even that is good news because I was originally going to wait till the 7th of September.
