They Don't Give Us Enough HSCs...

So, I've been calling around to some dealers on the SF peninsula looking for a place that will do an HSC for a customer's son in Burlingame. Despite identifying myself as a dealer, one shop told me they only do the HSC for their customers because "they don't give us enough to do it for others"

Well its my understanding that HSC's are issued for the use of that particular Instructor. Although If this is correct or not I forget since its a non issue here for me and its been so long since I read all that stuff or took the instructor course!

Simple solution order as many as you want, sucks it doesn't help you in this case though!

      Silly FFL's.

OP isn't asking for forms, was looking for a place to administer the test to a clients kid not local to his own shop?

Yes, they are issued to the instructors and are non-transferable but the instructor can order as many as he/she wants. Saying that the DOJ doesn't give them enough is plain BS.

Oh I guess I should have read it closer. I see. Silly. They still will make their $10 off it, who's is to say that kid doesn't come back within that 5 year span and purchase something from that location. Seems like customer service at a lot of places is lacking. IDK maybe I'm still just a noob when it comes to business but I don't understand. We are all about building relationships here and try and be as nice and courteous as possible. Heck we even spend hours a every day just chopping it up with customers about guns and other BS!!

Right, They probably just don't want to cough up the loot to buy a lot of HSC's at one time. Being a pawn shop we don't need more than 2 packs of HSC's at a time. So that's what we do. But I would always do an HSC for anybody who came in.

It would be fine by me if they didn't "give me enough", instead I have to buy them.

When I run out, I just have customers go to the big box store, ie. Sportsmans Warehouse since they are close, they seem to have been given enough.

If only FFLs could print them out like submitting a DROS and be charged for each one submitted, rather than paying in advance.

Having run out of HSCs before, you don't want to run out of HSCs. Nothing is more likely to kill a deal than telling a guy you can't start his ten day wait and you aren't exactly sure when he will have to come back to your store and take a 30 question test so you can start his ten day wait. It might be tomorrow, it might be three weeks.

HSCs basically sell handguns. If you don't have them, it is hard to sell handguns.

If I am short on HSCs, I will not sell them to people who aren't buying guns. If I have plenty, I like the $10 and give them to anyone who wants one.

Wouldn't it had been great if they used the $24 million surplus in DROS to sell HSCs and charge our account just like DROS? Kind of like the new DFG licensing system.

Glad they didn't waste any of your DROS funds for such a great system that would have served the citizens paying for it.
