Failure to function

Just received a pistol from out of state for transfer and it failed basic function testing, i.e. getting the slide to unlock with a dummy round in it for the safety demonstration. I don't believe it is safe to release to the buyer. How do I proceed from here.

I would provide the buyer the information to make a decision. E.g., maybe the buyer purchased the gun for parts? (I don't know the situation). For example, I had a buyer purchase a gun for the parts and not the frame (it was unrostered) so I let him come down and take the parts he wanted, but never transferred the frame to him.

It's possible your customer is willing to bring the firearm to a gunsmith. I would provide the same caveat that comes with all C&R firearms in regards to "Please have a qualified gunsmith inspect this weapon before firing". Let the customer know your concerns and have them decide whether they are good to go or want to work something out with the seller and you've done your duty really.

Perhaps I am missing something or just don't understand what you are saying, but what exactly is the problem with it? Getting the slide to unlock with a dummy round in it does not make sense to me.
