Fishy FFL guy on Armslist.. advice?

I found a guy in Brea selling a .22 rifle I want. He says its NIB, ready to go etc. He also says that him and his associate have an FFL and do all the paperwork from their house, and even let me pay half then and the other half when I pick up. Does this sound suspicious to anyone?

Not strange at all. I have done the same thing previously since I also work out of my home. Just ask for his CFD number and call the CA DOJ to verify it.

My FFL also works out of his home, by appointment only, so no waiting, no B.S., it's awesome to do business like this!! No punk kids or grumpy know it alls at a crowded counter, just a great personal professional transaction.

Question, how can someone start the DROS period without you actually going in and signing the paperwork? Is it legal for an FFL to start the paperwork without the buyer actually being there?

Who said that the DROS was submitted without going in?

The FFL has to see the ID, so it can not be started without the person being there.

Hard to get a thumbprint without the person being there too.
