What constitutes a "Gun Show" for DROS?

Hi,

I'm a new FFL and I was wondering about starting a DROS at an event. I realize that I can do it via cell phone at a "Gun Show", take the firearm and start the 10 day wait. The buyer picks it up at my location.

What if an FFL were at say a shooting competition and wanted to sell a gun to a competitor. Can he start the DROS there and mark "Gun Show" since he was showing guns for sale at the event?

That is not a gun show.

Only mark gun show when at a gun show.

Everywhere else, how would the government know you are starting DROS outside of your shop unless you tell them?

I get what you are saying, but are gun shows somehow registered or regulated? We often have large competitive events with vendor sales of various things. If I and others were allowed to sell guns at the event, does it become a gun show?

In CA, a gun show is specifically defined and regulated under PC12071.1 and PC12071.4 Anything else not correctly licensed under these codes is not legally a gun show in CA.

On a related topic, public benefits (ex. Friends of the NRA) are covered separately and have different restrictions or non-restrictions.

Are those type of events marked as "gun show" on the 4473?
