Because instead of spending the DROS money on the DROS process needs they stole it for enforcement. Enforcement was already getting $5 of every DROS fee but that wasn't enough apparently.

In short, they don't have the manpower to keep up.

Actually I think that they don't want to talk to all the people who are delayed. I know when I have gotten through the people are happy that I am not a person who wanted to talk to them because of a delay.

          You all have a point!

Well question for you guys. We send a firearm back to the factory for repair. It was repaired (frame replaced) with a new serial number. How should we go about the DROS on the new serial number and what do we and the customer do about the old serial number? Any info would be appreciated.

In a perfect world the factory should pay for the new DROS(if it is a warranty issue). DOJ has a form the customer can fill out saying he no longer has the gun, and the reason why(replaced by factory).

In any event, the new gun is DROS'ed just like any other sale.

Thank you for the info. We might just pay the DROS fees for the customer.

There's a spot on the DROS that you check for warranty replacement.

Can you tell me where that is? I don't recall seeing it. Is it under Loan/Consignment? I used the standard handgun option the last time I was returning a warranty replacement where the frame changed on the customer. I didn't know there was a Warranty Replacement option that should have been checked.

They know that you are calling and don't feel like hearing any noise.

I think it is the pawn/consignment/return. If the firearm is not on the certified list, then you have to use another means. I remember asking about it before, but I don't remember what the DOJ said. The FAQ is useless as it only says that a DROS must be submitted.
