    30 day wait exemptions

Had a discussion with a LGS employee. He told me that in order for a CA LEO to be exempt from the 30 dayDROS wait, a letterhead from the dept/agency is needed because the handgun has to be for duty use. But according to (PC section 12072(a)(9)),

(9)(A)No person shall make an application to purchase more than one pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person within any 30-day period.

(B)Subparagraph (A) shall not apply to any of the following:

    (i)Any law enforcement agency.

(ii)Any agency duly authorized to perform law enforcement duties.

(iii)Any state or local correctional facility.

(iv)Any private security company licensed to do business in California.

(v)Any person who is properly identified as a full-time paid peace officer, as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2, and who is authorized to, and does carry a firearm during the course and scope of his or her employment as a peace officer.

it doesn't specifically say that a letterhead is needed. I remember a letterhead is needed to be exempt from the 10 day wait, not sure how it is now. I know not to believe every LGS employee, esp big chains, but is an LEO exempt from the 30 day wait?

edit: My search for an answer on the search function didn't come up with any relevant post, but its my fault, but I did some google search and found a post on the site with the same discussion. thanks. But if anyone wants to elaborate, feel free.

A dept. ID qualifies for (v). No letter is needed.

A letter is needed to exempt the LEO from the 10 day waiting period.

thanks kemasa. It was a turners employee by the way. I always assumed about the 30 day wait exemption, but I didn't want to push the issue. Especially since Ill probably be there again.

      thanks again
