    uts-15

Last I heard, there was no official DOJ position on if the UTS-15 was legal in California. I have a customer requesting to ship one to us for transfer. Thoughts from other FFLs?

It's a pump action shotgun with twin 7-round tubular fixed magazines, nothing in that platform violates any kalifornia laws. Just like a tubular magazine on a lever action, they are not limited in capacity the way detachable magazines are. Lots of rifles with tubular magazines holding more then 10 rounds are legal for sale in this state.

Due to the tubes automatically switching between each other there is debate that it may be considered a single feeding device, which would make it a large capacity magazine and illegal to sell to a non-LEO.

The only UTS-15 I've seen in CA was sold with the magazine tubes blocked to 5 rounds each because of this issue.

Research these things before even considering buying one.... POS IMHO, legal though.

Not sure if they are a POS or not. Could care less. Its not for me. Want to know if I can dros this. The fact that both the tubes act as one feeding device worries me.

Personally, I would not risk it. If the magazine selector only selected one or the other, then it would not be an issue, but that is not the case. I saw a letter that the manufacturer got from the CA DOJ in which it said that they had to ask each DA, which makes it risky.

If you block the magazines to 5 rounds, then it would not be over 10 rounds and would not be an issue if it was considered to be one magazine, but if you do that you should document that.

I concur that it may be risky. I have chosen not to sell them. The KSG on the other hand I will sell because of the manual magazine selector.

If only I could get them....

Manufacturer has a letter from the DOJ stating not illegal in the state. But 51 district attorneys. . . . .

Yea that was our issue with it. We were worried that what if this guy gets caught and some DA prosecutes for an illegal AW. Then Im the dealer who sold it. Not happening. We asked the other FFL if the could block the tubes to hold only 5 shots they said no and then so did we.

Thanks for the help everyone! Good looking out.
