Ordering for LEO

Hello Calguns friends,

Can a California FFL order a non-roster handgun for a law enforcement officer in California? How can a CA FFL receive shipment of a large-capacity handgun from a distributor (Davidson's, Bud's Guns, or wherever).

Some businesses will not send non-rostered handguns to CA, others will. Just order it and see what happens. They will probably want a copy of your LCM permit on file.

There are some distributors I work with that say they will only sell me the off-roster guns If I tell them they are for LE only. It's not law. Just policy. Some of the dealers want an additional form for these items or large capacity magazines. These additional forms are a waste of time since we already have to comply with federal and state laws but sometimes it's the only way.
