Can two off list handguns be PPT'ed at the same time?

I am buying two guns from a friend of mine, a Ruger P89DC and a Smith & Wesson 4006.

Yesterday we tried to take the S&W (without a magazine since the seller can not transfer the 11 round mags to me) to Turners in Corona and they said they can not do the transfer without a magazine for the safe handling demonstration. And since they don't have their law enforcement license they can not stock the 11 round mags.

He suggested I go to Ammo Bros in Ontario since they have the Law Enforcement license, they may have the standard 11 round mag which I could use to the demonstration.

That being the case, I would also like to do the Ruger at the same time. And since it has a 15 round mag (which he also can not transfer) I would also need to transfer it without the mag.

If possible, I would really like to transfer both at the same time. Since the DOJ does not impose a limit on PPT's, I should be able to do both transfers at the same time, Right?

Anyone have any experience with Ammo Bros transferring guns without mags?

Why couldnt they do the demo on a similar style handgun? Or were they out of every semi auto?

      That's a pretty good question....

I didn't think to ask that. I did tell them that I have never had to demonstrate anything on the last 4 transfers I did through them...

      It was Turners after all...

There's no distinctions between off roster and on roster guns once they are in private hands. Sell them the same way you would sell on roster. Its just a handgun.

          Thanks.

But the meat of the question was if I could actually do two handguns at once?

I know new guns are one every 30 days, and that the same rule does not apply to PPT's.

But I do not know if two PPT's can be done at the same time.

Yes. You can do as many PPT's at once that you have the time and money for!

How are you going to use the guns without mags?

I will have magazines. I just want to start the transfer now and i will get magazines shipped to me.

I didnt want to have to wait until i get the magazines before i start the transfer.

You will need to find an FFL who will let you do the safety check with a similar gun that has a magazine.

Many will not, so you may end up having to wait for the magazines anyway...of if you have an CCW I think you are safety check exempt.

                      No CCW yet.

But they finally answered the phone and I explained the situation with the magazines and he said that would be no problem.

Maybe I should still have the seller bring the mag to the FFL just in case. Then after the safety demonstration, the seller can regain posession.

It REALLY SUCKS that I can't take them...

The magazines on the S&W are 11 rounds. How much more damage could one cause with a 10 round mag that he/she couldn't cause with a 10 round mag?

because the law requires the HSD to be done on THE handgun being transfered (or another one of the exact same make/model)

as long as the FFL would allow the seller to loan you a mag at the beginning of the PPT DROS to do the HSD, that should be fine. once the HSD is complete, the seller takes back his mag.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

                            Same here.

I have always been asked "Do you know how to handle this thing?"

                            "Yup"

"Ok, Sign Here, Here, Initial Here and Fingerprint Here."

Maybe it is a written rule that is rarely observed...

I transferred an early Ruger Bearcat .22 (no transfer bar) at Grant Boys. They wanted a handling demo - I loaded one skipped one loaded four went full cock and lowered the hammer on the empty chamber. Had to explain to the guy the benefits of carrying early six shooters with only 5 rounds.
