Question about signing my 03 license

I received my 03 license recently and have read some threads, so I am a little mixed up and am not sure what to do.
If I find a good C&R rifle, here in Calif or out of starte, Can I fax my 03 or do I need to mail it?
I havent signed it yet and read somewhere not to sign it. Maybe I am wrong about this. I think someone mentioned to use red ink when signing.
When I do sign, do I sign in the middle portion and down below where it looks as if there is card to sign, or do I just sign in the middle or below?
Not sure what to do. I thought about calling BATFE, but when I have in the past they were a little short with me when I was trying to explain something to them.
    Please help, thanx!

Maybe others can speak specifically about the type 03 license but type 01 and 07 should not be signed directly. Copies should be made and signed when sending. You can fax, mail, or email. I think most of us are happy with email. I don't know anyone who is mailing them except when they come in from the sender with firearms. I only receive faxed FFL's from customers who don't know how to work the computer. Why some shops (or anyone) don't do email and still have faxes is a mystery.

Remind them that you pay them.

It depends on the seller. Some say to mail, some say to fax, some say to email. The BATF allows for a recently signed copy. Meaning, I made copies of the original not signed and then signed and dated the copy and sent it. Don't sign the original though. Always sign the blank copy and send it.

I sign the copies but not the original. That way I can date them before sending emailing/faxing/snail-mailing to wherever it's going. But honestly I only ever emailed copies. This is the 21st century for crying out loud.

Yes, thank you!! I have not signed the original copy and dont intend too unless there is another Fed reg passed. I have downloaded it on my computer and made about 5 hard copies unsigned.
I also truly understand depending on the FFL I am dealing with. I have done about 9 ppt's last year and besides the forms you fill out, each one has their own querkyness about it and; buying cable locks and even recording the serial number of that lock. They are protecting themselves which I understand. I would too.
            thanx,

I copy my license into a PDF and keep it on my phone with my COE. When I find something to buy I email the forms to the shop to print and sign. I do this because I hate carrying paper around.

Good point. I have a copy in my glove box in my car just in case I happen to run into something that needs adopting and the shop won't do e-mail.
