    Converting 01 to 07?

    Howdy:

We've put this off long enough and it's time to fly. We really need a secondhand permit and it just makes sense to get the license now and THEN the secondhand permit.

So, how long did it take to change your license to 07, given you already have your 01?

Is there a "short form" or any shortcuts since you've already got an FFL01?

    What suggestions do you have?

    Regards,

It's a whole new license. I spoke to ATF about obtaining a license at a second location which is a whole new license. The only shortcut they told me about was the part on the application that asks if you have ever been in the business to which the reply would include your current FFL. ATF said to note that they had my fingerprints and photo on file for the first license and wouldn't need to submit them again. They recommended calling the local branch/rep/IOI or whatever they have at the lowest level since the major time constraint would be scheduling the inspection. Not sure if that applies to a second license type at the same location but I suspect it would be required since type 07 allows different activities than type 01.

      Thanks Toby

Good tip about the prints/pic, my compadre (who has FFL) was going to go thru all that rigormarole this afternoon again.

We will give Helen a call and see if we can grease the skids on that front. Inspection shouldn't be a big deal, passed it once a few years ago and can do so again. The hell of it is, that she asked him on the first inspection if he just wanted to do the 07 and HE SAID NO!

Guess he just thought he'd gunsmith and buy someone a rifle now and again. He never thought he'd be trying to manufacture gun parts......

Thanks for the tips and wish us luck.

OH BTW, so if you did this, how long did it take to get approved?

      Thanks

Situation changed and I didn't license a second location. Looking to move my license instead. Finding a space is the biggest trouble.

Make sure when you find your location, you send the amended application to ATF asap. They have had my amended application for over 30 days and I still don't have my new FFL yet.

Wondered about that too. We are on the edge of being busy enough to open a shop. I'm sure you guys know the drill. Still working regular long hour jobs, spending every other waking minute in the biz.

Yes. I'm so tired! No one said there would be paperwork and things to do besides play with guns...
