    LARUE CA DOJ LETTER

    Greetings everybody,
First of all I would like to state that I am not bashing anybody or any entity. This is just for learning purposes.

I stumbled upon an issue where LaRue tactical was requiring my FFL to provide an CA DOJ letter that basically indicates that they are in good standing.
No matter how much I tried to explain, the FFL will not or probably could not provide this letter. I was explained that the CFD # is sufficient for purposes of verifying the good standing of the FFL dealer.

My question is, is it too much to ask for FFL to come up with this letter? I spoke with at least 4 local FFLs and none of them seemed to understand what I was talking about.

Perhaps Larue wants a CFLC 'approval letter'?

Quick Link - GO TO CFLC What is the California Firearms Licensee Check System (CFLC)? California Penal Code Section 27555 prohibits all Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), other than Type 03 or 06 FFLs, from shipping firearms to a FFL in California unless, prior to delivery, the FFL intending to deliver, sell or transfer the firearms obtains a verification approval number from the California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms. This includes transfers that occur at gun shows. The CFLC system validates a California FFL’s active status against the California Centralized List.

They may want a copy of the letter that DOJ sends out to every FFL listing CFD and other licensing status every year.

If they are able to get a shipping approval letter then ffl is in good standing.

I had this same problem with my FFL, you can ask Juli if she has a list of FFL's in your area that are already approved by Larue. That's what I ended up doing, after going back and forth with my FFL and Larue for a week. Juli can also send you a copy of the DOJ letter so you can show your FFL what they are looking for.

What I stated above is what they are looking for for every shipment. I guess it's too difficult for them to keep a copy on file.

Apparently we were in the same situation. Did just the same and found FFL, Michael at EBR.

Well, Larue is being a bit absurd in their request. The CFLC letter confirms all of the information and is more accurate and up to date, as well as the CFLC is required, so there is no need for a FFL to provide the other letter. If Larue bothered to think about it, they would realize how stupid they are being and how they are wasting the time of others. Personally, I think it reflects very poorly on Larue.

Par for the course for them. Letter requirement is overkill and pure laziness on their part. Same for a "fee" to obtain a CA approval number to ship a firearm.
