Out of state SKS transfer

My uncle has 2 SKS rifles he wants to gift to me. He knows I have one already and I love shooting and collecting them. He lives in Arizona and his models have the grenade launcher tip on them.

Questions: Can he just have the grenade launcher tip removed? He would obviously have to ship to a FFL, but is he needing to make alterations before he ships them? Is this type of transfer ok?

Your uncle can do it before he ships them or you can do it after they are transferred to you.
