homebased FFL question, "valid for retail sales"

As I understand it, ATF requires that person trying to get a homebased 01FFL must have "valid for retail sales of firearms" on the business license in order for ATF to issue the FFL. does that also apply to 07FFL applications where a person could want it for mainly wholesale manufacturing, and not for retail sales?

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

That firearms license is required for any FFL in order to get the CFD. In my city, it was separate from the business license. I got it directly from my police department.

You are misinformed. ATF does not require that language on the license. CA DOJ requires that language in order to be listed on the Centralized List and for you to have access to the DROS system.

If your business license does not include that language, you can still be on the Centralized list, though you will be listed as an "Exempt" dealer. You can still conduct business, still receive firearm shipment approvals, though you will not have access to the DROS system.

yah, I see I got that backwards, it is CADOJ that needs that, not ATF.

If you are not going to conduct retail sales, you do not need that language on the license.

the idea was that "valid for retail sales" was a requirement just for 01's since ATF says that they have to have posted hours open to the public to "deal", but that an 07 is more for manufacturing, but that you can also deal if you want, but don't have to. that is why an 07 can have "appointment only" hours.

we were just hoping that the relaxed operating hours for an 07 made that 'valid for retail sales' not needed but that you could still make occasional sales .
