    Mental Health

Has anyone else been getting phone calls asking if they have some kind of mental issue if they can still purchase a firearm? I had one call like that today and then we had two more later on.

If they have to ask, they should not buy a firearm. Personally, I would avoid any such person since you don't want to make it on the news, in a bad way.

My wife is an LCSW and is beside herself right now. A patient with severe disorders was denied by DOJ and she just learned a family member went and bought him a rifle, and thinks there is nothing wrong in doing so.

Could be a caller with an agenda, wanting to see what you say? A lot of scullduggery going on over this "situation" we're experiencing.

OP, better check all those shady customers now. You can still technically purchase if you have mental health problems as long as you were never adjudicated. The law states you have to be declared mentally defective by a court and there are some people with mental health problems that just aren't severe enough to get that far. Like kemasa said, you don't want to get on the news in a bad way.

She should report that, that's basically a straw purchase. If that patient was denied by DOJ for mental health problems that stops him from both purchasing and possessing.

I don't know that she can report it because of patient/client confidentiality. Unless the patient is a danger to themselves or others.
