Can an AK resident ppt me firearms while in CA?

Can a client of mine bring guns from her AK home to her CA apt. to ppt to me? she lives and works here in CA but does not have a CA drivers lic. Does she have to ship to an ffl or can she bring them on the plane in her checked bags?
    Thanx in advance.

She can bring them with her in her checked baggage on the plane and then transfer them to you in person at a California licensed dealer. It won't qualify as a "PPT" unless she has a California DL or ID from the DMV. Since it won't be a PPT the dealer can charge whatever he wants for the transfer and any handguns would have to be on or exempt from the Safe Handgun Roster. Also, since it won't be a PPT a dealer can refuse to do the transfer.

so without a cali ID it can be done it's just a ftf transfer and the ffl can charge whatever they want. got it.

if there is a ffl near the Northridge or Santa Monica area that would like to help please pm me with your info. Thanx very much

Google the Ca handgun roster if it is a hand gun to save time. The website is pretty easy to use to make sure the hand gun is on the roster. If there is a possibility it falls into the AW class use the above flow charts. Not a good idea to accidentally bring an illegal gun into CA.

I would also strongly suggest you check what regulations might be different from AK to CA.

For example, if she was bringing an AR, ensure she has either Bullet Buttoned the rifle, or modified it to be featureless. Also have her dismantle any magazines that might be included.

I know she has an ak47 up there so I'll ask her to send me pics if she wants to bring it down for herself. she was planning in just bring them down and handing them to me and was pretty shocked when I told her it would have to be done through an ffl. Can she bring any hi cap mags she has for herself? once again thanx for all the help.

She can bring the magazines as long as they're dismantled. They'd be magazine repair kits in that case, and you can rebuild them with blocks to limit them to 10rounds for CA legality.

If she has an AK, she has to make the magazine non-detachable (tool-removed). I'm not as familiar with AK features, so i'm not sure how hard that is.
