Just floating an idea. My gun range requires membership in the nra to be a member of the range. How about having to show card or member number to do business with an FFL. I am just recently realizing how many gun owners, even Calgunners who are not members in our largest most unified national voice. It is upsetting and pathetic to me.

You may do a lot better by saying you'll pay half their fees for a year long membership if they sign up with the purchase of a firearm. Otherwise they may just leave and purchase elsewhere.

That seems like a good way to scare away noobs who are just starting to get interested in guns - let them start shooting, get acquainted with reality instead of Hollywood/anti-gun BS, then the NRA membership starts to make sense.
NRA membership, for a lot of people, is a mixed blessing - I think it's important (I am a life member) but I disagree with a lot of what they do, and strongly dislike a lot of the politicians they support. I think the right thing to do - especially now - is for people to hold their nose and join anyway, but it's a lot easier to make that argument once someone gets good and happy with their guns and with shooting and good and disgusted with the idiotic anti's.
What if you offered a discount for NRA members?"[T]he liberties of the American people [are] dependent upon the ballot-box, the jury-box, and the cartridge-box . . without these no class of people could live and flourish in this country." -- Frederick Douglass (1892)Comment

Don't think it would be legal. Violation of the first amendment and 2nd amendment.

If the shopper felt like joining the NRA they would probably be a member already. if the shopper doesn't feel like joining the NRA they'll just go to another store that doesn't make them jump through hoops to spend their money.
Now a discount for NRA members...sigpicOriginally posted by victor1echoHollywood is satan!!!!Comment

As a business, you can make any requirements you want, unless it violates the law, such as refusing to do a PPT.
I give a discount to members of firearm rights organizations. As long as it is a firearm rights organization, I don't care which one. I don't consider the CRPA to be a firearm rights organization due to their budget and other issues.
This encourages people to join the organization of their choice or I get more money. It is a win either way to me.Kemasa.

I like this, but implemented a little differently.
My range ( SLOSA )has a yearly membership fee of $50.
I contend that they should raise that membership fee to $75 with the option to check off a "NRA Membership Request" checkbox.
If the member does not check the box, the range will donate that $25 to SAF, CGF, etc.
For those people who just come to shoot, but not become yearly members, the person working the window should ask if they wish to donate a few $$$.

I think the best is not to require membership but offer it and a discount if you wish. I recommend options such as membership info for GSSF and NSSF and any other shooting organizations you can find.Toby's Tactical
